لا يليق بك خصومٌ غير محترمين. | (1) If you reserve your respects for those you disagree with,
You deserve no unrespectable opponents. |

ليس خشية من الكلام،
لكن ابتكاراً له. | (2) Speechless,
Not for fear of speaking,
But for the sake of creating it. |
| (3) الشرفة،
إسهام العشاق في هندسة المعمار
وجماليات المكان
واندلاع الحجر. | (3) The Balcony is
Lovers’ contribution to architecture,
To the Aesthetics of space
And the eruption of the stone. |
| (4) هؤلاء،
الذين لا يكفّـون عن الذهاب إلى طرف الميزان،
الموقف الرصين يفقدهم توازنهم. | (4) Those,
Who do not stop going to the edge of the balance,
The composed stance makes them lose their balance. |
| (5) لا يتركون للمؤمن حرية الانفراد بدينه،
خشية أن يكون الشيطان ثالثهما | (5) They leave not the believer to enjoy the freedom of being alone with his faith,
For fear of Satan be their third companion. |
| (6) حتى بالوردة
يستطيع شخصٌ أن يجرحك. | (6) Even by a rose
A person can hurt you. |
| (7) تنسى !؟
لِـمَ لا،
تكتبُ شعراً جديداً كلما نسيت،
النسيانُ صقلٌ للمخيلة. | (7) You forget!?
Why not,
You compose new poetry whenever you forget,
Amnesia is polish for imagination. |
| (8) كيف تريد أن تكتب إذنْ،
وأنت لم تعد تقرأ،
ولا تحسن الإصغاء
ولا تحاول فك أبجدية المعرفة،
القراءة زيت قنديلك
أيها القابع في عتمة الثقة. | (8) How would you want to write then,
And you no longer read,
And not good at listening,
And never try to decipher the alphabet of knowledge?
Reading is the oil of your lamp,
You, who is secluded in the darkness of confidence. |
| (9) لكي تدرك جمال موسيقى اللغة
وضرورة الإيقاع في الكتابة،
انطق كلماتك،
اقرأها
ضعها في صوتك
أصغ إليها، واسمعها،
فالحروف أجراس الملائكة
الصمت يحبسها
والصوت يطلق لها الفضاء. | (9) To comprehend the beauty of
the music of the language,
And the necessity of rhythm in writing
Speak up your words,
Listen to them
Letters are Angels’ Bells,
Silence suppress them,
Sound opens up the space. |
| (10) أفضل طريقة لتفسير أحلامك
هي سردها،
روايتها على اقرب قلب.
| (10) The best manner to interpret your dreams,
Is to narrate them,
Recount them to the nearest heart. |
